Stuffing boxes are used to prevent water entering your boat. used in conjunction with gland packing, the seal is created by tightening the two bolts, this then forces the ‘top hat’ casting into the gland packing compressing it and creating a water tight seal. These are used on stern tubes and rudders a like.

The 1-1/4″ Bronze stuffing box is used on stern tubes and rudders alike (also known as a rudder stock). made from wear resistant gun metal LG2. Gland packing is added and compressed with the ‘Top hat’ and creates an air/water tight seal between the casting and prop shaft. Easily serviceable and long lasting.
